Although pink eye does affect other livestock animal species, recently developed vaccines which successfully treat the pink eye, in other animals, do not work on goats.
Pink eye can be infectious or non infectious and it is always the infectious strain of pink eye which affects goats, the strain suffered is highly contagious, and is the most common found in goats produced by goat breeders.
Causes of Goat Pink Eye.
a). Stress seems to play a strong causal effect in goats, stress induced by being transported foe shows or sales makes the goat prone to infection.
b). Infections in goats seem to coincide with either severe weather conditions or dramatic changes in existing weather patterns.
