It can be very upsetting for any person to see their pet dog in showing signs of distress and discomfort, especially since the animal cannot directly communicate and say what is wrong and how it is feeling.

Just like in humans, the common disease know as Pink Eye can affect  the pet dog, and is referred to as ‘Dog Pinkeye’, and the condition is readily recognized in the dog by the animal having a pronounced pink colour which afflicts its eye, this pinkness can last for several days.

Yes! Pink eye, or to give its medical name Conjunctivitis is contagious, especially in its viral form.

The condition can spread rapidly to the other eye of the person, to family friends and any other groups of people the sufferer comes into contact with.

It is estimated that some fifty percent (50%) of pink eye is of bacterial origin, twenty percent (20%) from viral infection, and allergic reactions to pollen, hay fever, and air pollution account for the remainder. Some reasons for the spread of pink eye follow.
